"Boogeyman is a groundskeeper and elementary school teacher at Shinjuku Academy. Originally from the otherworld of Tir na Nog, it's said that he was born from the deepest fears of children. He's always believed that if a child should display dangerous behavior, exposing them to horror can be highly effective at scaring them back onto the right path and ensuring they never repeat their mistakes. Even within the school, he's renowned by the students as an exceptionally strict teacher and feared due to his gloomy personality and the frightening set of gardening tools he's often seen carrying. This is unintentional on his part, however, and whenever he inadvertently scares students, his gloomy countenance intensifies with regret and, in turn, scares the students even more, creating a vicious circle. He enjoys going out for drinks with teachers from other schools who are similarly shunned by their students, and either commiserating with them or sometimes extolling the virtues of his own students whom he deeply respects despite their aversion to him. He leads homeroom in a class with a certain photography club member who actually seems drawn to him out of sympathy for his secret horror identity. Horror is, in fact, a major part of Boogeyman's identity, to such an extent that he belongs to a theater guild wherein he prioritizes horror-themed productions. One of his fellow guild members, however, has a very different view of what Tokyo's theater scene should be, causing the two of them to butt heads quite often. Boogeyman's Sacred Artifact is the cloth he keeps tied to his waist, which creates a closed space around anything ensnared within it, the contents of which (be they physical or intangible) can be instantaneously transported to another location."

A Transient that works at Shinjuku Academy as both a janitor and elementary school student. According to tales passed down in Tir na Nog, he is a being born from the terror held in the hearts of children. He believes that when children do something dangerous, experiencing a terrifying ordeal will prevent them from doing it again. In practical terms, he's known as an extremely strict teacher at the school, and he's feared for the portable gardening tools he carries around. It isn't his intention to do so, but when he scares his students the light of life goes out of his eyes out of depression. This further scares students, and so a horrible feedback loop is created. If the hemp linen Sacred Artifact around his waist wraps around someone into an Enclosed Area, it can transport them to another area whether or not said target physically exists. He often socializes with another troubled teacher from another school who also gets avoided by his student(s?) to vent to each other over drinks and sometimes brag about said students. Boogeyman is in charge of the class a certain young photography club member is in, and he seems to have some sympathy for him as someone who is also a horror-type being. He highly values the production of horror shows, and he is part of the guild of actors and performers. Due to a difference in perspectives about the play happening in Tokyo, he is very incompatible with one of his guildmates.

"Although Boogeyman is able to lead a somewhat normal life in Tokyo, in Tir na Nog, he's always been regarded purely as a horror-based existence. As such, the idea of being liked by others—of actually having friends—has always seemed unthinkable to him. It's such a rare jewel in his mind that he elevates affection itself to near-sanctified status, and anyone who dares break their bonds of affection with friends, family members, or other loved ones receives his utmost ire. However, as Boogeyman is a being created through the wills of others, there must be others who believe in him and what he stands for in order for him to continue existing. Should people stop believing in him, stop fearing him, or stop desiring his help to set their children straight, he is very much at risk of simply fading away into oblivion. It's an almost cruel irony that the thing he desires most is to be loved by others, yet it's only by being feared that he's granted the right to exist, making love a goal so distant as to be wholly unreachable. When Boogeyman abducts children to his world of horrors, he replaces them with changeling fae from Tir na Nog, who live out the lives of the children until their return so as not to raise suspicion from their families. These fae are quite skilled at impersonation, leading few to ever discover the truth of their temporarily missing children. Meanwhile, the children in question are shown extraordinarily terrifying nightmares, according to those who consume dreams. Despite this—or perhaps because of it—Boogeyman has tremendous respect for just about all who teach children, with only a few notable exceptions. Among his fellow teachers, however, he is often cited as being much too strict with the students."
